Senior Pastor

The Reverend Michael L. Duncan, Jr. began his ministry at DFBC is August 2014. Prior to being called as Senior Pastor at DFBC, Michael served as Pastor at Central Baptist Church in Altavista, VA. He served at Central, within the Altavista area, and within Virginia from March 2005 until answering the call at DFBC. While in Virginia, he served on a number of organizations; boards including the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, the Altavista Area YMCA board, the Altavista Area/Campbell County Habitat for Humanity board, and the Donation A Week Neighbor (DAWN) board sponsored by the Altavista Area Ministerial Association. During seminary, Michael served as Assistant Pastor of Education and Pastoral Care at Atlanta’s Peachtree Baptist Church.

Michael is originally from Jacksonville, Alabama. He is a graduate of Jacksonville State University and remains loyal to his “Fighting Gamecocks” rather than those other Alabama state schools. He has received his Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Education from Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology.

In his spare time, he enjoys golf, SEC football, ACC basketball, and Atlanta Braves baseball. He is a movie buff, a Wendell Berry fan, misses still The West Wing, but does own all seven seasons. In general, he loves a good story.

 

Music Director

Jonathan (Jon) Berry, came to DFBC as a member in 1993 and has served as Director of Music since 2003. He participates or leads all vocal and instrumental ensembles including Sanctuary Choir, Praise Ensemble, and Handbells as well as gospel and contemporary groups.

Jon is also the Director of Bands at East Burke High School. He and his wife Karen live in Drexel and have three children. Ashtyn is an Elementary school teacher in Lincoln county. Alyson and Austin (twins) are both Seniors at Appalachian State University.










Associate Pastor

Cameron White, started his ministry at Drexel First Baptist in March 2017. He recieved his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from North Carolina State University, and has worked in several chemistry roles in both Georgia and North Carolina. He is currently working on his Masters of Divinity at Gardner-Web University.

His passions are getting outdoors and enjoying nature as God intended and spending time with his wife Mandi.










Church Pianist
Teressa Burns has been our pianist for over 20 years and adds a heartwarming aspect to our worship service. She is also involved in many other music ministries here at Drexel First Baptist Church.
